One race remains as the inaugural MLSR Ideal Family LLC Summer Shootout championship will be decided under the lights at Daytona International Speedway.

After three weeks of thrilling competition, the inaugural MLSR Ideal Family LLC Summer Shootout reaches its conclusion Thursday night at one of motorsports’ most iconic venues.

The series comes full circle as the Next Gen Cup Series car returns to Daytona International Speedway, where the Summer Shootout first began. Since then, the field has battled at Talladega and EchoPark Speedway, delivering thrilling finishes, first-time winners, and a championship fight that remains undecided entering the finale.

Now, everything comes down to one race.

Championship Picture

Ethan A. Thompson enters the finale leading the championship standings with 96 points, holding a slim two-point advantage over Matthew Taylor.

Behind them, Tanner Ensign and Chris Etchepare are tied for third, while James Beard rounds out the top five. Although Thompson controls his own destiny, the margin is razor-thin, and every position on the racetrack could prove decisive before the checkered flag falls.

Momentum Belongs to Thompson

No driver enters championship night with more momentum than Ethan A. Thompson.

Thompson captured a convincing victory last week at EchoPark Speedway, showcasing both speed and composure when it mattered most. The win propelled him into the championship lead and established him as the driver everyone will be watching when the green flag waves at Daytona.

Still, history has shown that momentum alone means very little at a superspeedway.

One mistimed move, one lost drafting partner, or one multi-car incident can erase an entire evening’s work in the blink of an eye.

Taylor Ready to Strike

Matthew Taylor has quietly assembled one of the most consistent campaigns of the Summer Shootout and enters the finale just two points behind the leader.

He has remained within striking distance all season, and Daytona’s unpredictable nature could provide exactly the opportunity he needs. If Thompson encounters trouble, Taylor is in position to capitalize and leave with the championship.

The Battle Doesn’t End With the Top Two

While the spotlight shines brightest on Thompson and Taylor, several other drivers have every intention of ending the season with a statement victory.

Tanner Ensign, Chris Etchepare, James Beard, Dave W. Allen, Elijah Maupin, and Michael Patrick have all demonstrated winning speed throughout the Summer Shootout. If the championship contenders find themselves caught in traffic—or worse, caught in “The Big One”—the fight for the race win could become one of the most competitive of the season.

Daytona Never Follows the Script

Few venues create drama quite like Daytona International Speedway.

The Next Gen Cup car produces large drafting packs where drivers spend much of the race separated by only inches. Success demands patience, smart drafting decisions, and flawless execution when the intensity rises over the closing laps.

At Daytona, the fastest car doesn’t always win. Often, it’s the driver who makes the right move at exactly the right moment.

One Race. One Champion.

The inaugural MLSR Ideal Family LLC Summer Shootout has delivered exactly what it promised—competitive racing, dramatic finishes, and a championship battle that will be settled on the final night.

Now, after three unforgettable rounds, only one challenge remains.

When the checkered flag falls Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway, one driver will stand alone as the first-ever MLSR Ideal Family LLC Summer Shootout Champion, capping off an inaugural season that has set the stage for what promises to become a marquee annual event.
