Two late cautions erased Team Ignition's commanding advantage, allowing Blake Hauschild to lead a Specter Speed sweep of the podium in the inaugural MLSR B-Open Series event
The inaugural Ideal Family LLC 225 officially launched the Major League Sim Racing B-Open Series Thursday night at Daytona International Speedway, and it delivered exactly what fans expect from superspeedway racing—teamwork, strategy, and a dramatic finish that wasn't decided until the closing laps.
From the opening green flag, Team Ignition established itself as the organization to beat. Adam Ramsey, Chris Etchepare, Richard Wilson Jr., Ethan Thompson, and affiliate Michael Patrick worked together throughout the evening, controlling the draft and consistently placing multiple teammates at the front of the field. Their discipline and organization allowed them to dictate the pace while the rest of the competition searched for a way to break up their formation.
As the race entered its final stages, Team Ignition appeared poised to celebrate the first victory in B-Open Series history. Ramsey and Wilson broke away from the lead pack and gradually built nearly a 10-second advantage, putting the inaugural Ideal Family LLC 225 firmly within their grasp.
Everything changed in the closing laps.
Two late cautions erased Team Ignition's advantage and brought the field back together for one final shootout. When the race resumed, Specter Speed assembled more quickly than the Team Ignition tandem, allowing Blake Hauschild, Brandon Hunsinger, and Jacob Durbin to line up nose-to-tail with momentum on their side. Hauschild surged to the front, and his teammates remained locked together behind him as Specter Speed completed a commanding 1-2-3 finish in the inaugural B-Open Series event.
Hauschild earned the historic victory, followed by Hunsinger in second and Durbin in third. Richard Wilson Jr. crossed the line fourth after seeing what had looked like a certain victory disappear in the closing laps, while Adam Ramsey completed the top five after leading a race-high 57 laps.
Although the finishing order belonged to Specter Speed, Team Ignition's performance was impossible to ignore. The organization controlled the draft for much of the evening, demonstrated exceptional teamwork, and appeared to have the race won before the late cautions reset the field. Specter Speed, however, made no mistakes when the opportunity arrived, executing the final restart to perfection and turning a strong night into a historic one.
The race itself remained remarkably clean for Daytona standards. Drivers showed patience throughout long green-flag runs, with teamwork proving far more valuable than aggressive moves through the pack. That discipline allowed teammates to separate themselves for much of the evening before the late cautions produced one final opportunity for the outcome to change.
Opening night ultimately belonged to Hauschild and Specter Speed, whose flawless execution on the final restart secured the first victory—and the first podium sweep—in B-Open Series history. Team Ignition may have led the most laps and controlled the race for much of the night, but when the checkered flag waved, it was Hauschild and Specter Speed celebrating in Victory Lane.
